Basic: Our Beyond
Basic Dog Obedience
Course is intended for those dogs and handlers who have completed
any Basic dog obedience class and wish to refine their dog's
performance and reliability. The entire family is welcome to
join in the dog's training! Class goals include off-leash heeling,
introduction to jumping and retrieving, reliable response to both
voice commands and silent signals, and reliable stays under
distracting circumstances. Practical uses for obedience
training will be taught. Individual attention is always
provided to help you gently but effectively train your dog.
Cost: $120 for the six week class
| In Beyond Basic classes, you
will continue to refine the details like Come, Front and
Finish. Your dog will also learn the silent hand signals for each command! |
|
As your dog learns to perfect
each skill, we continue to seek the utmost willingness and
eagerness from your dog. Classes are active, with lots of
practice during the class hour.

Retrieving or fetching is an important skill for
you to teach to your dog! It serves as a foundation skill

every day life! See VideoAnimation of this dog and learn more? (485 KB or about 4 minutes to load.) |
Advanced
(Competition) Classes: Advanced
classes are for dogs and handlers who have completed our Beyond
Basic (or have obtained Instructor permission). These classes
are designed to help you continue to improve your dog's ability to
heel, sit, stand, down, stay, recall, and finish.
Through a program of increasingly complex heeling routines that include random sit, down and stand stays, your dog's reliability and accuracy are enhanced. Retrieving and jumping skills are emphasized as well as response to silent signals at a distance, stays with you out of your dog's sight and reliable off leash heeling. Handling and team-work skills are tested in our [Super Drill].
Emphasis is also placed on proper handling, ring technique, and style since most dog and handler teams working at this level plan to exhibit at Obedience Trials or participate in other Dog Sports such as [Flyball] or [ Agility ]. [More Details]
We can assist any dog owner in the assesment of their dog's
temperament and physical abilities relative to pet and competition
obedience training -free of charge- prior to any decisions about
class enrollment. Prospective students may even observe
classes in session at no charge. We also offer information on
breed and age considerations (purebred or mixed, puppy or adult) for
prospective dog owners.
