Daily patrols done in the mini van to keep their streets safe from anything moving on wheels with shiny helmets or heads! (We apologize to all the bald men our dog has offended).Dream Sport:Flyball using solid cheeze balls anchoring an all squirrel (cat?) team!!!Other Important Information:Bilfro is one of the most affectionate dogs you will ever meet, always willing to lavish wet kisses on anyone willing to accept them (and sometimes a few unwilling recipients J). That includes his "baby brother" Kelson Callahan Knable (K. C. for short), born July 5, 2000. Bilfro has adjusted nicely to his role of big brother, demonstrating his gentle and caring nature by attempting to sooth K. C. with wet kisses when Kelson is "fussing". (We try to limit the kisses to Kelsonšs hands & feet, even though he seems to enjoy them all). Bilfro is the "founding" dog of Seattle's Best Canines and the entire reason the Knablešs started the team. His unusual name was derived by combining the names of Bilbo Baggins & Frodo Baggins from "The Hobbit" & "The Lord of the Rings". Although not the fastest of dogs, Bilfro is very dependable in the flyball ring. He can run from any position (as long as Ken doesnšt get confused and release him third when hešs running anchor), passing large dogs and small with equal ease. Bilfro has earned his FD (Flyball Dog), FDX (Flyball Dog Excellent), FDCH (Flyball Dog Champion) and is currently working hard on his FM (Flyball Dog Master). Bilfro is now listed as the highest ranking Old English Sheepdog in the United States in flyball, and second highest in North America. So Bilfro's goal is to catch his good friend Digby and challenge him for first place in NAFA. Bilfro was originally bred as a pedigree show dog by Dr. Jim and Lee Layman-Cotswold's Kennel. However, we discovered that Bilfro had hip dysplasia on both sides so he was out of the show ring scene. Most vets said that he would require surgery on both hips and might not ever walk again! With some secret advice about a horse vitamin supplement called MSM (used now by actor James Coburn for his arthritis) Bilfro is thrilled to run, jump and BARK about his favorite pastime......FLYBALL! |
