This is an All-Inclusive program for your new dog or puppy.  At Paws-Abilities, we combine old fashion common sense with today's more progressive positive motivational training techniques.  Whether your goal is a socially perfect pet or a reliable obedience or Agility competitor, our Perfect Pet Program will result in a much more enjoyable pet who is both eager and willing to please.

Service Dog Programs

Paws-Abilities has been proudly committed to assisting those of our clients with legal disabilities to raise and train their own dogs to assist them in day-to-day life since early 1990.

Paws-Abilities' goal in the training of and working with any Service Dog-Handler Team is to produce a well-balanced, stable and confident partnership that works equally well at home and in the public.

Candidate Service Teams are invited to attend an initial orientation and evaluation.  The dog is evaluated for suitability; i.e. the dog's overall physical health is evaluated, as it's structural soundness and its temperamental stability. Questions and concerns the potential team may have are addressed and includes a basic discussion of current Service Dog leash and license laws and etiquette in public.

Since the teams trained at Paws-Abilities are considered "Owner Trained", strict attention to detail has always been required to not just meet the minimum ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) guidelines for service dogs but to surpass them at all levels.  Paws-Abilities trained Service Teams are required to pass the AKC (American Kennel Club) Canine Good Citizenship Test, a Therapy Dog Test and the ADI (Assistance Dogs International) Assistance Dog Public Access Test.

The Paws-Abilities training program for Service Teams begins with the Core (Basic) training classes which teach the basic obedience skills to lay a foundation that will allow for later progression to the eventual and more specific service-oriented training.  These skills include but are not limited to dogs trained for Mobility Assistance, Hearing Alert, Medical Alert and Psychiatric Disorders.

Total program price includes a 20% discount for all teams. 

Armed Forces Personnel (active or veteran) will receive a 10% discount on Single (individual) courses. A 15% Discount on single courses for soldiers assigned to the Warrior Transition Battalion.

S.T.A.R. Puppy Program

The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy^sm is an exciting new program designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start. The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy^sm Program is an incentive program for loving dog owners who have taken the time to take their puppies through a basic training class.
